A New Greenway in North Minneapolis?

Image Credit: City of Mpls. website
The City of Minneapolis is in the earliest planning stages for a North Minneapolis Greenway.  A low-traffic street would would be converted with three possible options for a greenway design.  The greenway would start at Victory Memorial Parkway and be a north-south route traveling past Crystal Lake Cemetary, Folwell Park and North Commons Park.

One of the three options for the North Minneapolis Greenway would be a bike boulevard with cars and bicycles sharing the road featuring traffic calming features.  The next option would be a half and half that would contain a trail and car traffic.  Finally, the third option would be a full greenway with no motorized traffic, similar to the Midtown Greenway.  This project comes in response to community interest and would be a great improvement of bike infrastructure in north Minneapolis.

There will be a community open house on Tuesday, October 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Folwell Park Recreation Center to voice your opinions on this project.  You may also share your input by participating in an online survey anytime from October 1st through October 30th.

If you would like to review the routes and options for this project, download the North Minneapolis Greenway Route Map and Design Options.  For more information, visit the City of Minneapolis' North Minneapolis Greenway Planning page.
