2019 Trek Farley Models Unveiled

The new stock of 2019 Trek Farleys will be showing up at Trek Authorized dealers late this Summer and in the Fall depending on the model.  Visit your local Trek Authorized dealer for information about pre-ordering the following models.

Farley 9.8

The 2019 Trek Farley 9.8 has a color change to Rage Red but otherwise it's the same bike as last year.  Features that carry over are the Bontrager Line dropper seatpost, SRAM GX Eagle 12 speed drivetrain, carbon Wampa TLR 80mm wheels, a 100mm suspension corrected carbon frame and fork, SRAM Guide RS hydraulic disc brakes, Bontrager Barbegazi (TLR, 120 tpi) 27.5x4.5" tires, Bontrager Montrose Elite saddle (Titanium rails) and Bontrager Pro stem.  Available late October* from Penn Cycle or your local Trek Authorized dealer.


Farley 9.6

The 2019 Trek Farley 9.6 has a color change from last year's model to Matte Olive Grey.  The drivetrain and cranks have also changed to a full SRAM Eagle NX 12 speed (11-50 cassette and 30T chaingring) set.  Other changes include a Bontrager Arvada saddle (hollow chromolly rails) and Bontrager XR Trail Comp nylon lock-on grips.  SUNringlé MuleFüt 80mm 32-hole cutout rims with Bontrager Barbegazi (TLR, 120 tpi) 27.5x4.50" tires make up the wheelset and SRAM Level T hydraulic disc brakes round out this affordable carbon fatbike.  Available late October* from Penn Cycle or your local Trek Authorized dealer.

The Farley 7 also gets a color change for 2019 to Matte Dnister Black.  It still has an Alpha Platinum Aluminum frame, 197mm rear spacing Stranglehold rear axle dropout, Manitou Mastodon 34 Comp 80mm suspension fork and 27.5" SUNringlé MuleFüt 80mm 32-hole cutout rims with Bontrager Gnarwhal studdable (TLR, 120 tpi) 27.5x4.50" tires.  Changes from the 2018 model are Shimano SLX shifters and 11 speed cassette, a Shimano Deore XT M8000 Shadow Plus rear derailleur, Race Face Ride 28T direct mount crank, a Shimano SLX M7000 11 speed cassette (11-46), dropper post and a Bontrager Arvada saddle.  Like last year's model it still contains the SRAM Level T hydraulic disc brakes.  Available mid-August* from Penn Cycle or your local Trek Authorized dealer.

Trek Launches New Plus and Gravel Bikes for 2018

Coming soon or available now at a Trek Dealer near you are the following five bike models that will have you riding singletrack, gravel or doing some bikepacking.  These are completely new bikes that will take you on some awesome riding adventures.

Trek 1120

The Trek 1120 is my favorite new offering in the plus bike category.  It is basically a 29+ bikepacking/touring bike based on the Trek Stache.  This new model starts off with an Alpha Platinum Aluminum frame with internal derailleur & dropper post routing, G2 geometry, Stranglehold dropouts, 1120 Adventure HCM Carbon fork and  proprietary bikepacking front and rear rack.  The Shimano SLX M7000 11 speed (11-46T) drivetrain provides the "go anywhere" platform that this bike was designed for.  Comes with SRAM Level T hydraulic disc brakes, SUNringlé Duroc 50 SL 28-hole TLR Wheels with Boost 110 (front) & Boost 148 (rear) hubs, Bontrager Chupacabra (29x3 Tubeless) tires and a Bontrager Drop Line 125 dropper post (15.5: Drop Line 100).  Comes in color Matte Solid Charcoal.  MSRP is $2499.99.  Limited availability now with new shipments arriving in late October 2017.

New to the trek plus bike lineup for 2018 is the Trek Roscoe.  This 27.5+ bike comes in two models the Roscoe 8 and Roscoe 7 featured below.  This bike starts off with an Alpha Gold Aluminum frame with internal derailleur & dropper post routing, a 120 mm travel RockShox Judy Silver TK suspension fork, Shimano M315 hydraulic disc brakes, SRAM NX 11 speed drivetrain and SUNringlé Duroc 40 SL 28-hole tubeless-ready wheels with Schwalbe Rocket Ron Performance (27.5x2.80 Tubeless) tires.  Boost141 hub spacing, trail geometry, an E2 tapered head tube and Bontrager dropper post round out this model.  Comes in color Roarange.  This model also comes in a Women's Specific Design in color Matte Dnister Black.  MSRP is $1259.99.  Pre-order now from your local Trek Dealer and expect delivery in early October 2017.

Domane SL 5 Gravel

The first of two new gravel bikes from Trek for 2018 is the Domane SL 5 Gravel.  This bike features a 500 Series OCLV Carbon frame (DuoTrap S compatible), front and rear IsoSpeed decouplers to smooth out rough roads, a Domane carbon disc fork, Shimano RS805 flat mount hydraulic disc brakes and a Shimano 105 11-speed drivetrain. Schwalbe G-One Allround tires (700x35c Tubeless), tubeless-ready wheels, hidden fender mounts, internal cable routing and a Ride Tuned seatmast finish off this build.  Comes in color Matte Shady Grey.  MSRP is $2499.99.  Pre-order now from your local Trek Dealer and expect delivery in late October 2017.

Domane ALR 5 Gravel

The other "Smooth Advantage" Domane gravel bike is the Domane ALR 5 Gravel.  This bike features a 200 Series Alpha Aluminum frame, rear IsoSpeed decoupler for a smooth ride, a Domane carbon disc fork, TEKTRO Spyre flat mount mechanical disc brakes and a Shimano 105 11-speed drivetrain.  Hidden fender mounts, DuoTrap S compatibility, tubeless-ready wheels and Schwalbe G-One Allround tires (700x35c Tubeless) complete this build.  Comes in color Solid Charcoal.  MSRP is $1889.99.  Pre-order now from your local Trek Dealer and expect delivery in late October 2017.

Trek's 2017 Farley Fatbike Lineup Unveiled

Trek introduced some of the new additions to its fatbike lineup last week at the Sea Otter Classic.  New bikes including full-suspension and a new super light carbon hardtail model in addition to new color choices on previous models will be showing up at your local Trek dealer late this Summer.  Trek is now taking pre-orders on the Farley EX full-suspension and hardtail models for early August delivery.

The Farley EX models have 120mm of "smooth front and rear suspension".  How is this new Trek offering different from the Salsa Bucksaw?  With the proven suspension technology of ABP, Full Floater and RE:aktiv, Farley EX "rolls faster with less bounce thanks to its bigger 27.5 fat wheels."

Two Trek Factory Demo Days Coming to the Twin Cities This Fall


Trek has announced two more Factory Demo days for the Twin Cities this year.  They will take place at Lebanon Hills Mountain Bike Trails on Saturday, September 26th and Elm Creek Singletrack on Sunday, September 27th.  Both demos will be held from 10am to 3pm.

2nd Annual Wild Ride Mountain Bike Festival at Lebanon Hills October 4th

The 2nd Annual Wild Ride Mountain Bike Festival is coming up on Saturday, October 4th at the West Trailhead at Lebanon Hills Regional Park in Eagan.  This fun-filled event is made possible through Dakota County Parks and a partnering with MORC (Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists), local area bike shops, businesses and organizations.

Join in on the fun and celebrate one of Minnesota's best mountain bike trail systems and the many hours of volunteer work that MORC members have put in to maintain nearly 12 miles of single-track.  This event is not only for the avid mountain biker but also a fun and festive way to introduce new riders to the sport.

The Wild Ride Mountain Bike Festival is a family-friendly free event, however Dakota Co. Parks would like attendees to pre-register online or by calling 952-891-7000 during standard business hours.  Come down between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm for a day filled with activities.

Scheduled activities include Build Your Skills Sessions, Gear Talk Sessions, Fix-It Clinics and live music by Twin Cities bluegrass band Sans Souci.  Throughout the day there will be bike tune-ups, kids activities, timed competitive events, group rides and a VIP Lounge presented by Freewheel Bike.  Food and beverage, including beer and wine will be available for purchase on-site by Green Mill.

There will be plenty of new bikes to demo at this year's festival.  The Trek Factory Demo Rig will be there with brand new Mountain, Road and Cyclocross models to test ride on the mountain bike trails, skills park and nearby bike paths.  The Specialized Demo Rig loaded with 2015 men's, women's and kid's bikes will also be there and event partner Valley Bike and Ski is coming with Giant, Felt & KHS demo models.  All demo rides are free but may require you to bring your helmet, credit card and driver's license to demo bikes.
 

Parking is free but limited at the West Trailhead lot.  Overflow event parking is available at the School of Environmental Studies (12155 Johnny Cake Ridge Road) located just South of the West Trailhead entrance.  Additional street parking can be found along Galaxie Avenue on the west side of the park and in neighborhoods near the park.

This is a rain or shine event.  Dakota County Parks will have a large canopy tent on-site to keep people dry if it does rain.  Severe weather or lightening may postpone or cause events to be rescheduled later in the day.  If wet trail conditions close the mountain bike trails, nearby paved trails and the old gravel parking lot are available for test-riding bikes.  Check the Lebanon Hills Mountain Bike Trail Facebook page for hour by hour updates in the event of severe weather the day of the Festival.
