2019 Trek Farley Models Unveiled

The new stock of 2019 Trek Farleys will be showing up at Trek Authorized dealers late this Summer and in the Fall depending on the model.  Visit your local Trek Authorized dealer for information about pre-ordering the following models.

Farley 9.8

The 2019 Trek Farley 9.8 has a color change to Rage Red but otherwise it's the same bike as last year.  Features that carry over are the Bontrager Line dropper seatpost, SRAM GX Eagle 12 speed drivetrain, carbon Wampa TLR 80mm wheels, a 100mm suspension corrected carbon frame and fork, SRAM Guide RS hydraulic disc brakes, Bontrager Barbegazi (TLR, 120 tpi) 27.5x4.5" tires, Bontrager Montrose Elite saddle (Titanium rails) and Bontrager Pro stem.  Available late October* from Penn Cycle or your local Trek Authorized dealer.

The 2019 Trek Farley 9.6 has a color change from last year's model to Matte Olive Grey.  The drivetrain and cranks have also changed to a full SRAM Eagle NX 12 speed (11-50 cassette and 30T chaingring) set.  Other changes include a Bontrager Arvada saddle (hollow chromolly rails) and Bontrager XR Trail Comp nylon lock-on grips.  SUNringlé MuleFüt 80mm 32-hole cutout rims with Bontrager Barbegazi (TLR, 120 tpi) 27.5x4.50" tires make up the wheelset and SRAM Level T hydraulic disc brakes round out this affordable carbon fatbike.  Available late October* from Penn Cycle or your local Trek Authorized dealer.

The Farley 7 also gets a color change for 2019 to Matte Dnister Black.  It still has an Alpha Platinum Aluminum frame, 197mm rear spacing Stranglehold rear axle dropout, Manitou Mastodon 34 Comp 80mm suspension fork and 27.5" SUNringlé MuleFüt 80mm 32-hole cutout rims with Bontrager Gnarwhal studdable (TLR, 120 tpi) 27.5x4.50" tires.  Changes from the 2018 model are Shimano SLX shifters and 11 speed cassette, a Shimano Deore XT M8000 Shadow Plus rear derailleur, Race Face Ride 28T direct mount crank, a Shimano SLX M7000 11 speed cassette (11-46), dropper post and a Bontrager Arvada saddle.  Like last year's model it still contains the SRAM Level T hydraulic disc brakes.  Available mid-August* from Penn Cycle or your local Trek Authorized dealer.

Trek's entry level fatbike takes on a color change to Matte Solid Charcoal for 2019.  The frame is Alpha Platinum Aluminum that is 100mm suspension corrected with 197mm rear spacing Stranglehold rear axle dropout.  The drivetrain consists of a Shimano Deore 10-Speed shifter, Shimano Deore Shadow Plus rear derailleur, Shimano HG50 11-42 10 speed cassette but now has a Race Face Ride 28T direct mount crank.  The SRAM Level hydraulic disc brakes, 27.5" SUNringlé MuleFüt 80mm 32-hole cutout rims with with Bontrager Gnarwhal studdable (TLR, 120 tpi) 27.5x4.50" tires and a Bontrager Haru OCLV Carbon fork are also carried over from 2018.  New on the 2019 model are a Bontrager Arvada saddle (hollow chromolly rails) and Bontrager XR Trail Comp nylon lock-on grips.  Available mid-October* from Penn Cycle or your local Trek Authorized dealer.

2018 Trek Farley Fatbikes Showing Up Now at Dealers

Trek's 2017 Farley Fatbike Lineup Unveiled

Trek introduced some of the new additions to its fatbike lineup last week at the Sea Otter Classic.  New bikes including full-suspension and a new super light carbon hardtail model in addition to new color choices on previous models will be showing up at your local Trek dealer late this Summer.  Trek is now taking pre-orders on the Farley EX full-suspension and hardtail models for early August delivery.

The Farley EX models have 120mm of "smooth front and rear suspension".  How is this new Trek offering different from the Salsa Bucksaw?  With the proven suspension technology of ABP, Full Floater and RE:aktiv, Farley EX "rolls faster with less bounce thanks to its bigger 27.5 fat wheels."

Penn Cycle Renting Fatbikes This Winter

Penn Cycle in Eagan will have a fleet of rental fatbikes for this Winter.  If you would like to give fatbiking a try or see what Winter singletrack riding is all about, now you have the opportunity.  The Eagan store is in close proximity to some great nearby trails including Lebanon Hills, Murphey-Hanrehan and the Minnesota River Bottoms.  These trails are ridden all Winter long by fatbike enthusiasts who believe just because it is cold outside that doesn't mean their riding season is over.

Great for kids and smaller riders.

Rentals can be reserved online through Velolet by visiting the Penn Cycle Bike Rental Page and selecting "Penn Cycle - Eagan" for the Location under the "Pick Up" and "Drop Off" dates and selecting "Update Results".  Bikes can be rented for 4 hours, Daily or Weekly.  If you decide to buy a fatbike from Penn Cycle after renting one from them the rental fee will be applied toward your purchase.

Faturday group ride

New to fatbiking?  There are plenty of group rides to join in on during the Winter months.  A good place to find these is on the MN Fatbike Group Rides Facebook Group.  A beginner-friendly, no-drop group ride that has become very popular with Twin Cities fatbikers is the "Faturday" ride. This weekly group ride usually takes place at the Minnesota River Bottoms on Saturday mornings at 10am.

A rental from Penn Cycle is a great way to give fatbiking a try before you buy.  Ride with a friend or join a group ride and once you see how much fun fatbikes can be, you're going to want one.  Visit the Penn Cycle Bike Rental Page for sizes and availability.
