GroupRide.com Connects Cyclists to Group Rides Near Them

https://groupride.com/

GroupRide is a website founded by Mark DesJardin that connects cyclist to group rides near them that fit their current fitness and skill level.  The site has an interactive ride map to search for rides and users can view the ride directory or submit a ride.  It's a great place to find a ride that suits you, whether you're looking for a beginner ride, something for the more advanced cyclist, a weekly bike shop ride or a women only group ride.

Signing up for GroupRide is easy.   Simply fill out the form, select an avatar, check the type of rides you like to do and agree to the terms of service.  Now you're ready to find or post group rides that are to your liking.

The interactive mapping tool makes finding a ride anywhere easy.  Use the search box to find rides by entering an address, city, state and/or Zip Code.  Scroll the interactive map or zoom in/out to zero in on rides in a specific area.

Search the GroupRide database for a list of rides in your state.

If you are looking for a ride that meets specific criteria, use the advanced search button to select days of the week, intensity, distance, time of day, drop/no drop or women only.

To find out more about a ride, select "View the Details" and all of the information will be displayed including when, ride size, distance, drop/no drop, starting location, ride description, ride contact info and a place to post your comments.

There are two ways to submit a ride to GroupRide, Free or Premium.

Premium/Paid Ride Page
With the Free Ride option the user can post a ride page that includes ride info, starting point, description and contact info.  The Premium/Paid Ride ($50/per year) option allows the user to create an organization, upload a logo, add a company website URL, upload a GPX or KML map file of the route, link a YouTube video (video of the ride or about the company) in addition to ride info, starting point, description and contact info.

GroupRide will be expanding into Mountain Bike rides and Version 2 coming in February 2014 will add social features that include:
  • Creating your own impromptu GroupRide and inviting your friends to make it public
  • Checking in to Premium rides
  • Discussion and chat on the ride pages
  • Real time ride discussions
  • Logging your individual training by uploading ride data from GPX or KML file
  • Keeping track of GroupRides completed
For more information about GroupRide visit the GroupRide FAQ page.  GroupRide is also on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
