Bike shops around Minnesota have become more specialized in the fat bike market and have bigger and better selections of bikes, parts and accessories to meet the demand. If you're curious about them, not ready to purchase yet but would like to ride for a day/weekend or would like to try out several makes and models before selecting the one you will purchase, fat bike rental is the way to go. I have compiled a list of bike shops around the Twin Cites and one near the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trails that have fat bikes for rent.
Penn Cycle & Fitness has three bikes for rent at their Eagan store and may have delivery and pickup service available for an extra charge. Rental requests can be done online or by calling the store.
Angry Catfish Bicycle and Coffee Bar has fat bikes for rent. Contact the shop for more details. They are located at 4208 28th Ave. S. in Minneapolis.
Contact Maple Grove Cycling for more fat bike rental information. Located at 13950 Grove Drive in Maple Grove.
Erik's Bike Shop has fat bike rentals available at its Dinkytown location in Minneapolis. Online booking is available.
Cycle Path & Paddle in Crosby has the Surly Pugsley for rent. Contact them for more information.
With all of the new snow that we've received, now is the perfect time to hit the trails on a fat bike. Is there a fat bike race coming up that you want to enter and you just need a bike, rent one. Contact one of the fine bike shops above to get "fat" on the trails. For up-to-date trail conditions, read my post Get Winter Trail Conditions Before Heading To Your Favorite Mountain Bike Trail.
