Join the Ride For The Greenways to Promote Development of Bicycle Greenways in Dakota County

Apple Valley and Rosemount are both bicycle friendly communities in the south metro area.  They have joined with Valley Bike & Ski, HaveFunBiking.com and Dakota County to promote Bike Greenways and bike friendly sustainable communities by forming a community ride called "The Ride for the Greenways".

The Ride for the Greenways will be held on Sunday, May 20th, 2012 at 12:00 pm and will start at the Minnesota Zoo's east parking lot.  There will be two rides, one is a family ride of about 10 miles on paved trails and the other is an experienced ride of 30 miles along roads and paved trails.  Pre-register before May 13th and the cost for individuals is $9 and $15 for families.  After May 13th the cost will go to $12 for individuals and $20 for families.  Helmets are required for all riders and snacks will be provided before, at a scheduled rest stop and after the ride.

For more information, contact Steve Skinner at (952) 953-2314 or visit the Valley Bike & Ski  website.

The Dakota County Greenway Collaborative and Active Living Dakota County with funding by BlueCross BlueShield of Minnesota had produced an animation of what their vision of a Greenway corridor in the communities of Apple Valley, Lakeville and Farmington might look like.  It is part of a Dakota County Greenways vision to be achieved by 2030.
